Storypal Inc., the provider of the Site (referred to as “Company,” “us,” “our,” or “we”), is committed to protecting your privacy online. This privacy policy (“Policy”) explains our privacy practices for our site, located at www.storypal.com (the “Site”) and various related services (“Services”). This Policy is designed to help you understand what information we collect and how we collect, share, and use the information. The Policy applies to all Site visitors, registered users, and subscribers. By accessing or using our Site, you consent to the collection, transfer, manipulation, storage, disclosure, and other uses of your information as described in this Policy. You authorize us to use your information in South Korea and any other country where we may operate.

A SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT CHILDREN

Our Site is designed for educational purposes with users of any age including children under 13. All student users require either a teacher or a parent to join the site who have immediate access and control of the guiding student. The teacher or parent users must be above 18 and if you cannot prove that you are an adult within 7 days starting from the issuance of a request for a legal proof, we may delete your account for the community safety. THE PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT:

The information we gather from users enables us to personalize and improve our Services and allows our users to personalize the Site experience. We collect the following types of information (“Personal Information”) from our users:

Personal Information You Provide to Us:

We collect and store the following information on our servers if you provide it to us by filling out a sign-up form or taking some other self-directed action. You can decide not to provide us with any of the information below, but you may not be able to fully access the features and products provided for members with accounts and enough information need for system algorithms.

 

  • Private Account Information: You can create an account on our Site (your “Account”) by providing a title, first name, last name, email address, phone number, and creating a password. If you are signing up for a student account, you do not have to provide your email address. However, lack of email information will disable features, such as email notification, that require an email address.
  • Profile Information: We ask for several mandatory and optional information about yourself to create a user profile that will be publically viewable by others if you sign up as a teacher, parent or pentor member. If you are a teacher, parent or pentor, we ask for your profile picture as mandatory information to enhance community experience. If you are signing up as a student member, you do not have to provide a profile picture and your information will be viewable only to other site users. For teacher, parent, pentor users, we use email or phone number you provide to enable communication between you and the company as well as the communication between you and the other site members. To enhance convenience we allow users to reply to other users directly via email if they have received a message from other users on the site. To fully utilize the site service you are responsible for providing correct information.
  • Payment Processing: If you purchase any products or services through our Site or Services, we may collect certain information regarding your purchase (such as your name, zip code, purchased items) as necessary to process your order, and you will be required to provide certain payment and billing information such as your name, credit card information, and billing address. We do not directly access, store or collect your credit card information, and we will use the provided information only to fulfill your purchase and communicate with you regarding your transaction.
  • Social Networking Sites We have social networking accounts on sites such as Facebook to enhance the user experience. If you decide to join or participate in our social efforts, any information that is disclosed should be considered public information and will be subject to the terms of those social networking sites. We have no obligation to keep private Personal Information that a user makes available to other users or the public using these sites or any other third party sites. Users should exercise caution when deciding to disclose Personal Information in public forums.
  • Information Provided to Other Users We do not prevent users from sharing personal information with other users using the communication features provided on the Site. Although we do advocate for the personal safety of users warning users not to share personal information online, you are solely responsible for such decision. If you are a teacher or parent user, you have the right and responsibliy to guide your student users. We are not reliable for any act and outcome of user's act on sharing personal information with other users.
  • Information Provided in Contests, Events, Surveys or Promotions: You may be asked to submit personal information when you enter a contest, event, survey or promotion.
  • Information Obtained about Third Parties: If you provide us with information about others, or if others give us your information for the purpose of referral or in other relevant contexts, we will only use the information for the specific purpose for which it was provided.

 

Personal Information Collected Automatically:

  • to generate documents on our platform;
  • to help you connect with other users using matching algorithms and machine learning technologies;
  • to support your convenient access or usage of services and contents provided by third parties;
  • to monitor traffic, the number of visitors, the effectiveness, and status of Services;
  • to provide you with updates, offers, and announcements about products, new products, services, features, events or updates;
  • to market our and third party products and/or services to you, including sending you information, newsletters, e-mail campaigns, and communications regarding new, improved or existing products, contests and/or events;

  • to enabling user-to-user communication and exhibit public contents such as site reviews and teacher and parent main page;

HOW WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION:

HOW WE DISCLOSE AGGREGATE INFORMATION:

We may combine your Personal Information, profile information, and activities, with those of other users to prepare collective profiles of our users and activities analysis for our internal use. For example, we may track how many users from a specific country are connected with various countries or calculate an average number of words a particular age group of users uses in their writing, etc.. Such information enables us to continue to enhance and innovate the value we create for users and build partnerships. We may share aggregated information concerning our users, without attribution of Personal Information, to other companies and public organizations with whom we conduct business and the general public.

WHAT WE DO TO KEEP YOUR INFORMATION SECURE:

We take commercially reasonable security measures to protect against unauthorized access to, or unauthorized alteration, disclosure or destruction of your Personal Information that you share. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet or any wireless network can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Consequently ensuring 100% of integrity, and privacy of data exchanged between you and us through this Site cannot be guaranteed. You transmit such information at your own risk as such information and data may be viewed or tampered with by a third party.

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO PROTECT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION:

While we are committed to taking all reasonable precautions to protect your Personal Information, you can enhance your security by creating strong passwords and learning about online security. If you use a shared computer, make sure you log out and delete cookies before leaving a shared computer.

 

How to Opt-Out

You have the right and ability to opt out of any automated notifications or communications we send by contacting us with an unsubscribe request at [email protected]. However, our employees, contractors or partners may still need to contact you personally, for example, if you are have requested for a support of violated User Terms.

If we have provided any third party with your Personal Information and permission to send you emails or other information using your Personal Information, you have the option and responsibility to contact the third-party directly and request opt-out.

HOW to UPDATE, DELETE, OR CORRECT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION:

You may change any of your Personal Information in your Account online at any time by logging in. You may also contact us if you need any support via [email protected]. We may decline requests that are unreasonably repetitive, require disproportionate technical effort, jeopardize the privacy of others, or are extremely impractical. 

CHANGE OF PRIVACY POLICY:

We may amend this Policy in the future. Use of information we collect now is subject to the Policy in effect at the time such information is used. If we make changes we will notify via email address you provided us. Teacher and parent users are responsible for informing and educating student users who do not have associated email address about privacy policy. It is your responsibility to maintain a valid e-mail address. If you opt out of communications from us, you may not receive these notifications, however, they will still govern your use of the Service. If you continue to use the Site or the Service after changes become effective, you agree to abide by and be bound by the modified privacy policy.

MISCELLENEOUS PROVISIONS

We control and/or operate the Site from offices in South Korea. Persons who choose to access this Site from other locations do so on their own initiative and at their own risk, and are responsible for compliance with local laws, if and to the extent local laws are applicable. This Privacy Policy shall be construed in accordance with the laws of South Korea and strive to represent international standards on privacy policy.

US USERS:  FERPA

Storypal is designed to allow each individual student to interact with the greater world. We acknowledge that some student information will be given to schools or other educational facilities. The information given to us by these entities falls under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. Schools are not allowed to give this information to third parties without the parental consent. Storypal complies with this law and Storypal will never share educational records with a third party. The only exceptions to share with any third party is if consent is given by the parent or guardian.

(주)스토리팔 ('www.storypal.co'이하 '회사')은 개인정보보호법에 따라 이용자의 개인정보 보호 및 권익을 보호하고 개인정보와 관련한 이용자의 고충을 원활하게 처리할 수 있도록 다음과 같은 처리방침을 두고 있습니다.

회사는 개인정보처리방침을 개정하는 경우 웹사이트 공지사항(또는 개별공지)을 통하여 공지할 것입니다.

나. 재화 또는 서비스 제공

물품배송, 서비스 제공, 청구서 발송, 콘텐츠 제공, 맞춤 서비스 제공, 본인인증, 연령인증, 요금결제·정산 등을 목적으로 개인정보를 처리합니다.

 

다. 마케팅 및 광고에의 활용

신규 서비스(제품) 개발 및 맞춤 서비스 제공, 이벤트 및 광고성 정보 제공 및 참여기회 제공 , 인구통계학적 특성에 따른 서비스 제공 및 광고 게재 , 서비스의 유효성 확인, 접속빈도 파악 또는 회원의 서비스 이용에 대한 통계 등을 목적으로 개인정보를 처리합니다.

 

2. 개인정보의 제3자 제공에 관한 사항

① 회사는 정보주체의 동의, 법률의 특별한 규정 등 개인정보 보호법 제17조 및 제18조에 해당하는 경우에만 개인정보를 제3자에게 제공합니다.

 

3.  정보주체와 법정대리인의 권리·의무 및 그 행사방법 이용자는 개인정보주체로써 다음과 같은 권리를 행사할 수 있습니다.

① 정보주체는 회사에 대해 언제든지 개인정보 열람,정정,삭제,처리정지 요구 등의 권리를 행사할 수 있습니다.
② 제1항에 따른 권리 행사는 회사에 대해 개인정보 보호법 시행령 제41조제1항에 따라 서면, 전자우편, 모사전송(FAX) 등을 통하여 하실 수 있으며 회사는 이에 대해 지체 없이 조치하겠습니다.
③ 제1항에 따른 권리 행사는 정보주체의 법정대리인이나 위임을 받은 자 등 대리인을 통하여 하실 수 있습니다. 이 경우 개인정보 보호법 시행규칙 별지 제11호 서식에 따른 위임장을 제출하셔야 합니다.
④ 개인정보 열람 및 처리정지 요구는 개인정보보호법 제35조 제5항, 제37조 제2항에 의하여 정보주체의 권리가 제한 될 수 있습니다.
⑤ 개인정보의 정정 및 삭제 요구는 다른 법령에서 그 개인정보가 수집 대상으로 명시되어 있는 경우에는 그 삭제를 요구할 수 없습니다.
⑥ 회사는 정보주체 권리에 따른 열람의 요구, 정정·삭제의 요구, 처리정지의 요구 시 열람 등 요구를 한 자가 본인이거나 정당한 대리인인지를 확인합니다.
