Hi guys! Noela here laugh

I currently go to a high school in California, USA.

MyGenMyFight otherwise known as, My Generation My Fight, is an anti-human trafficking club. Our goal as a club is to bring awareness of what human trafficking is and what we can do to help end it. Human trafficking occurs every day in our society, and we don’t see it. Many times, kids and adults are kidnapped to be part of this modern-day slave industry. However, the most vulnerable are foster kids and orphans who have no family and are lured by traffickers. Human trafficking is also linked to what many people may know as “Comfort Women.” “Comfort Women” was when Japanese soldiers would use Korean girls and women as sex slaves during the World War II. It was an awful and atrocious time, and even till this day, Comfort Women is a problem. The Japanese government is still unwilling to apologize and accept their mistakes. Sex trafficking, as well as child trafficking, still exist. Today we have a chance to do something about it.  In our generation, we must end this! Together, we say... this is "My Generation, My Fight."

If you are interested in this topic and would like to know what you can do to help, please write to me!

Here is my first discussion question:

What should be done to help bring an end to human trafficking around the world?

Hi Ted! Wow, to be honest I never thought about illegal organ marketing. It is a serious problem! I agree with you, the law should be much more strict and this crime should be under better regulation. Maybe you and your club can start a petition asking your local government representative to bring awareness to this. Thank you so much for your participation!

Hi guys! I have been following your discussions and today I had a chance to visit the National Memorial Museum of Forced Mobilization under Japanese Occupation. I also got a chance to meet the new director, Dr. Tae Seok Yoon. He emphasized the importance and the need for the governments and the public to go beyond just understanding the history and focus on advancing human right and peace. I think this resonates with what many of you guys said in the discussion - so I decided to share the comment smiley

Thank you, everyone, for sharing the perspective and Noela, for facilitating the discussions. We look forward to the further development of this forum discussion.

    Best,

    Heehwa

Hi Noela! I'm Ted from In Gavel club.

There were lots of Human trafficking in past. But now Human trafficking is on the decline. But North Korea and China have many Human trafficking now.

In organ sales, someone kidnap someone and sale organ. Organ sales can make much money. So they are kidnap people.

But in Act on the Prolonged Trading, if we make this crime, we live prison only 15 years.

    Organ sales is very inhuman.

So if we enhance this law, and to worry about it, Organ sale will be disappear.

    Thank you.

Hi Olivia! I completely agree with you! Women’s rights and the subordination of women play a huge factor in sex trafficking. Although bringing awareness to women’s rights may aid in preventing sex trafficking, trafficking people in general is a huge problem. Because there are so many variations of human trafficking, tackling one by one and bringing awareness to it as a whole may be more impactful. Maybe you should start a club at school or outside of school, where you can share ideas and educate others about this issue. Therefore, you can help spread the awareness and help others bring an end to this problem.

Hi Noela! I'm Olivia from in Gavel Club.

In prostitution, the focus is not on 'sexual experience', but 'buying and selling control of others, including sexual experience'. It is possible to have a violent sex that impossible elseqhere. I think it starts with people thinking of women as a sexual tool to satisfy their desires, not as a single person. If people are conscious of women rights, would people do prostitution?

Prostitution starts with ignorance of women rights. So I think people should be taught about women's rights ragularly. And we should be very concerned about the eradication of prostitution. I belive that if we continue to do this, prostitution will disapear.

    Thank you!!

Wow, Eunchae! I am very impressed how well you articulated your comment. Your ideas on how to prevent and stop human trafficking are powerful, I agree with you a 100 percent. Gender subconsciousness/discrimination is a huge issue, and I think bringing as much awareness to this problem is extremely important. As far as child trafficking and marriage trafficking goes, I think our focus should be on human trafficking as a whole. As more people learn about this issue, educating them on other forms of traffic would be ideal. Although I agree with your aggressive approaches, I think we should start by educating classmates, family, and friends. As the people we teach begin to grow in numbers, we should then take more action by talking to school administration and local government officials. However, I think the ideas of signing petitions and protest are excellent proposals. Try to start a club at school or outside of school where you can discuss this issue with others. Thank you so much for your interest in trying to stop this atrocity.

    Hi, Noela.

I watched your video and writing well.

I go to a middle school in Busan, Korea.

There are various types of human trafficking, but I think our main topic is sex trafficking and child trafficking.

    1. In the case of sex trafficking (including marriage trafficking), I think it is a matter of low gender consciousness. The subconscious gender discrimination is serious. It is no problem to indirectly mention the sex trade in Korea. It is often said that prostitution is the social life of men. Former sex dealer also said that men family gather on holidays often visit sex trade sites. Several articles have reported that these low-gander conscious men often go to Southeast Asia for prostitution. Therefore, if such sex buyers do not disappear, sex trade will not disappear. 1) prevention: In our school, we should demand to be recieved feminism education form government or members of Congress. 2) prsecutation:We need to hold a demonstrate and petition with constant interest to ensure that the punishment of sex trafficking buyers and brokers is done properly. 3) protection: We need to help protect and treat the victims. We also have to continue to protest and petition to be protected legally.
    2. Child labor exploitation uses a child's  weak magnetism. It is also international organized as is all human trafficking. Therefore, I think what we can do is best to press the investigation of this wide range of international organizations through inter-state cooperation, rescue victims of human trafficking, and fund or service certified institutions with funds that can be protected.

If there are any other ideas or measures to eradicate human trafficking, I hope we can discuss them together.

Hello Noela! This is Jerry from In Gavel Club, South Korea. I've watched your video about human trafficking and comfort woman. First I don't have much background information about human trafficking. In Korea, students like me don't know much about human trafficking. We don't get a lot of information at school, and there are only a few things that you can find in the internet. I think because there aren't a lot of human trafficking here, the government doesn't make much education programs for students. On the other hand, comfort woman is a huge issue in Korea. We are still fighting for the apology of the Japanese government, and almost all of the Koreans know about comfort woman, and they are angry about it. But sadly, not a lot of people know that comfort woman has existed till the 1960's. Many woman were kidnapped and were taken to U.S army stations. At this time, the Korean government had tolerated the comfort woman, and even encouraged the comfort woman, calling them patriots. i believe that this tragic event has a close connection with both human trafficking and comfort woman. It is also my belief that there are more cases of human trafficking and comfort woman in Korea and also all around the world. We should all pay more attention and speak our thoughts about these crimes that are against humanity. Because of this, I am really impressed with MygenMyFight. You and your club should keep up your good work! This comment might not be a reply to your discussion question, by I just wanted to say that what you are doing is a really thoughtful thing. Again, please keep up your good work!! See you another time^^
